The top 10 dishes to try at Marbella beach bars

If you are planning to stay in a luxury Marbella villa this summer, take your time to sample the delicious food offered at the vibrant beach bars, dotted along the coastline.

10 of the top dishes to try at Marbella beach bars include:

Gazpacho

Eaten cold in the summer, this refreshing soup is made with tomatoes, peppers, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, onion, bread and garlic –very refreshing and nutritious on a hot summer’s day and often served by the glass or the bowl!

Fritura Malagueña

This famous Malaga dish of mixed fried fish is best shared with a mixed salad and accompanied with ali-oli, garlic mayonnaise & lemon. The dish often includes fried anchovies, squid, prawns, red mullet and rosada!

Salpicon de Marisco

This mixed seafood salad consists of cooked octopus, mussels, prawns, tomatoes, green pepper, red pepper, red onion and cucumber, chopped and topped with a simple vinaigrette of olive oil and apple vinegar, salt and black pepper. Delicious on a hot day with a hunk of crusty bread.

Ensalada de Pimientos Asados

A perfect example of turning simple ingredients into a delicious dish. This roasted red pepper salad, often served with onions and dressed with olive oil, lemon juice, garlic and black pepper is the perfect accompaniment to fried fish dishes.

Ensalada Malagueña

Salt cod, oranges, black olives, onion, potatoes and hard-boiled eggs with an olive oil and sherry vinegar dressing may sound a strange concoction, but it works! The sweetness of the oranges complements the saltiness of the cod – a great salad as a starter or main course.

Paella de Mariscos

If you have never tried a seafood paella on the beach in Marbella, you haven’t lived! Seafood broth with saffron, mussels, clams, prawns, parsley, garlic, thyme, squid, onion, garlic, tomatoes and of course, rice is served up with lemon wedges and ali-oli garlic mayonnaise, accompanied with fresh crusty bread. Wow – a delicious dish to share with the family!

If you want to try the delicious local dishes and you are staying in a luxurious event villa in Marbella, you will be within easy reach of the chiringuitos, beach bars.

Tortilla Española

Humble ingredients make this tasty potato omelette into a staple of southern Spanish food. Potatoes are fried in olive oil with garlic and onions. Eggs are added with chopped parsley and the ‘high’ omelette is shaped into a cushion by inverting the sides. Delicious on its own or served in a pitufo (crusty roll) for breakfast.

Sardinas al Espeto

No trip to Marbella is complete without an ‘espeto’ of sardines on the beach. A wooden stake, packed with the fish is grilled over an open wood fire (typically a boat filled with charcoal on the beach). Accompany with a glass of cold beer or wine – squid or octopus can also be cooked this way.

Boquerones al Limon

Anchovies, butterflied and boned, coated in flour and lemon, then deep fried! Simple but an absolute staple of every beach bar menu in Marbella. Great with a mixed salad and washed down with a glass of sangria or cold beer!

Pulpo a la Gallega

Galician-style octopus, also called pulpo a la Gallega, is one of the best octopus dishes in the country. The octopus is boiled and then placed on top of thinly sliced boiled or fried potatoes and sprinkled with paprika. Traditionally, it is served on a wooden plate.
